A new program at Autumn Trails Stable will serve youth who are in foster care or who have been adopted and who may have complex needs by pairing them with both a horse and an adult mentor during weekly one-hour sessions.

One of Springfield’s largest development projects is currently underway. Named after the Melody Cruise-In Theatre, Melody Parks will bring more than 1,200 different housing options for renters, first-time buyers, and current homeowners. The mixed-use development will include single-family and multi-family homes, patio-style apartments, commercial restaurant and retail spaces, and more.

After a pandemic-induced hiatus, Wittenberg's student newspaper has relaunched. Between 5 and 10 students currently write for The Torch. Many of them are English majors, but one of the most active writers studies biology. The goal is for writers to come from a variety of majors.

Since McGregor Metal’s first custom Weld Tech class in April of last year, the company has had 23 associates either complete or are currently enrolled in the 32-hour course. 

It’s rare that a nearly 100-year old business gets to celebrate a grand opening again, but that’s just what Schneider’s Florist is doing. On Feb. 1, the small, family owned and operated business had a ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating its new owner Ashley Nienaber.

When planning updates to the museum the board decided to rethink the space and create places better suited for education, public events, and potential rentals. The North Wing renovations were the final phase in a three-part, $7 million campaign. 

February will include events to recognize notable figures in Black history while also showcasing the talents of Black artists, authors, actors, and other individuals.

“Appreciating other cultures is how we can come together and create community,” says Dorian Hunter, chief vibe officer of Art Noire. The appreciation expands from one to two days this year, Feb. 2-3.
